"Golden Goddess" is one in a pair of simultaneous releases showcasing both the "Safe" and "Sexy" sides of the artists work. ABOUT SERENA:
Known as a pioneering icon in the early adult film industry of the 1970s and 80s, her life has been tumultuous to say the least. She went from being a teenage runaway to becoming a model, a dancer, a world-traveling performer, and a mother -- all the while battling with a long-undiagnosed mental illness. In 2001 an accident put her into a coma for a month, causing her to lose parts of her memory. Since her recovery she’s returned to the creative outlets of painting, drawing, and writing. She paints constantly.
Her artwork is informed by her truly unique lifestory coupled with a profound belief in personal freedom and an unrelentingly honest approach to sexuality. Joyfulness suffuses her artworks but also, pulsing just beneath the surface is a strangeness, a constant search for understanding, a compulsion to put the pieces together.
Serena is a survivor. In her life and work-- from her mark made on the silver screen in the 1970s to her marks made on paper and canvas today-- nothing is left unbared and no regrets are to be tolerated!
This is the kind of thrilling collaboration that can only be forged at Blacksmith Press!
